Cable Safety Solutions FAQs

A horizontal cable lifeline system consists of a stainless steel cable tensioned between anchor posts fixed to the roof structure. Workers connect their harness to the cable via a sliding traveller device, providing continuous fall protection as they move along the roof without needing to disconnect at intermediate points.

Latchways® is a patented horizontal lifeline system manufactured by MSA Safety. It uses an energy-absorbing mechanism that progressively reduces the peak arrest force on both the worker and the structure in the event of a fall. Pinnacle Safety Group are approved Latchways® installers.

Most cable lifeline systems are designed to accommodate multiple simultaneous users. The exact number depends on the system specification and the number of anchor posts. We will design the system to meet your specific access requirements.

The Working at Height Regulations 2005 require that all fall protection systems are inspected at suitable intervals by a competent person — at least annually for most systems. Pinnacle Testing Services (PTS) provides comprehensive inspection and certification programmes.

Cable lifeline systems can be installed on most roof types including flat roofs, metal and profiled roofs, and pitched roofs. The fixing method is selected to suit the specific roof construction. For metal roofs, Transfastener™ systems use existing roof fixings with no additional penetrations required.
