Vertical Fall Protection FAQs

A vertical ladder lifeline system provides continuous fall protection for workers climbing fixed ladders. The worker connects a guided fall arrester to a vertical cable or rail running alongside the ladder. The arrester travels with the worker as they climb and locks automatically in the event of a fall.

LadderLatch™ is a Latchways® vertical ladder lifeline system providing continuous fall protection on fixed ladders of any height. It eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect at intermediate points, ensuring the worker is protected throughout the entire climb.

Yes. Most vertical lifeline systems can be retrofitted to existing fixed ladders without major structural modifications. We will assess your existing ladder installation and recommend the most appropriate system.

There is no practical maximum height for a vertical lifeline system. Systems are available for ladders and structures of any height, including telecommunications towers, wind turbines, and tall industrial structures.

Any vertical fall protection system must be accompanied by a rescue plan. A worker suspended in a harness after a fall arrest event must be rescued quickly to prevent suspension trauma. We can advise on appropriate rescue provisions as part of the system design.
